My "Ten" New Years Resolutions for 2010
59New Years is just around the corner, and though I don't normally make resolutions, I decided that a little goal setting might be fun this year (and may also get me to stop being unmotivated half the time)... so here is a list of my 10 resolutions... which I WILL complete this year.
R1: Lose 15 Pounds
This is the weight I gained since being unemployed... apparently my brain likes to tell my body that food = comfort. Though I have "worked out" all year, I am going to jump into a new gear and work out even harder, as well as watch my diet better (I MAY - emphasis on the word "may" - even give up Pepsi - gulp).
Maybe I will even shoot for 20 pounds, just so I have a buffer. I will weigh myself on January 1 and lose 15 pounds from there. My goal is to get into the "normal" BMI instead of "overweight" BMI.

R2: Write 55 Hubs
Now, I know that many of you do this one each week, but it is a little more difficult for me. One of my jobs is all about writing and I write 40 content articles per week, which leaves me exhausted by the time I get to hubpages.
But I will do my best and write 50 hubs this year. I know I can do it, because I wrote several in the 4 months I have been with hubpages. I will do my best to do at least one each week and not leave them to the end.
R3: Finish 15 Knitting Projects
For those of you who don't know, I have been knitting through the book, Knit 2 Together. I plan to be done November 11, 2011, but I want to make sure I work diligently through this next year. Since there are 32 patterns in the book, and I plan on finishing 4-5 by the end of the year, I think 15 will set me ahead for 2011, making it "easy" to reach my goal.
R4: Receive My First AdSense Check
I know this one is possible, even if it takes me all year (though I hope it doesn't). I think that will help me feel that I have not wasted ALL my time here on hubpages. Tee hee...
R5: "Read" 25 New Books
Though you may be wondering how I will have time to do this... I have a few tricks up my sleeve. Well, maybe not tricks. A couple of my jobs only require sitting for a long time and doing "mindless" work on the computer. Though I wouldn't be able to read anything conventionally, I have begun listening to audio tapes while at work (which is perfectly fine with all of my bosses by the way).
The process for me is easy, either download books from itunes, or borrow them from the library and put them on my ipod (don't worry, I remove the library ones once I am finished). Then I go everywhere with my little mp3 player and have a good time!
I have learned that audio tapes can both make the time fly by faster and keep me from becoming bored at work, driving, house cleaning... etc, and because of this, I think it will be easy for me to keep this goal as it really does not add any time to my workload.
R6: Finish my Spanish Program
I am currently learning Spanish with the Rosetta Stone Software and am only about 1/2 way through. I would like to finish up with this learning, and perhaps take another class or program course to further my knowledge of this language.
If I can master Spanish, it can go on my resume, and where I live, that is very important.
R7: Pay Off My School Loan and Credit Card Loan
I would also like to become "almost" dept free by the end of the year (there is one payment that I won't be able to afford paying off completely this year). Not only will this allow me to have "extra" money next year, it will also save me some time every month when I have to work out when to pay each loan.
Lane County Community College
R8: Go Back to College
I plan on applying to and going to Lane County Community College this fall. One of my jobs is a temporary position and it will end shortly before the quarter begins which I think is perfect timing. I will apply for student loans this spring (yikes! Not again!), and I hope that I will get several grants.
Though I am not sure what I will major in, I am considering either business (with accounting - since I am generally good with math), or mental therapy since I enjoy talking to and helping people.
R9: Find More Ways to Help Out
Most of you may remember little Noah and the blessing we were all given in being able to send Christmas Cards to him. I want to go a step further and continue to find things that "ordinary" people can do to help others in need and do them.
I think that it not only helps encourage the individual (and their family) going through the difficult time, but it also encourages us, the givers or the helpers. I saw that firsthand with Noah and I regret I haven't had much time to write more about other children this holiday season.
R10: Remember to Live
I have become so busy the last few months, that I have hardly had any moments to realize that I am alive, I am young and that I am truly happy and exstatic to be so.
I have not been able to spend very much quality time with my boyfriend, which I regret, and I would like to dedicate this year to loving him more than I did last year. He definitely deserves it.
I would also like to take more time to do fun activities outside of working, and I will start putting some of those things first.
There are a lot of things that I need to do and a lot more things for me to learn... and I hope this year will allow me to do both. It has to be better than last year for sure!
